Raoul Silvetree is a convicted potioncrafter and former minor officiate of Swordhaven before uncovering of his part in a plot to poison the king and shatter the Alliance.
History[]
Raoul used to serve the city of Swordhaven as a respected alchemist, brewer of potions and poisons and an officiate. He was a rich man with a manor in the outskirts of the capital where he lived with his daughter, Shendra. Despite the successful life Raoul craved more, he craved Alina Poisonbane's job as Royal Potionmistress.
Conspiring with the Metal Man[]
The push for Raoul to do something about his dream came from a "Metal Man" who threatened him to help poison King Alteon and Alina so he could step in with an antidote and Alina would take the blame. Despite the threat Raoul willfully enacted the plan but it went wrong when Alina did not drink from the poisonful soup but it did work to arouse suspicion on her from knights in the castle.
After the only partial success of the plan Raoul locked himself up in his manor,[1] guarded by traps, Frigid Horndrakes and Amethyst Golems, but Alina with the help of the Hero got through all of them and confronted Raoul with dropping a Potion of Unscrutable Mutation on the alchemy circle he stepped on, interrupting his spell-trance and by luck giving him an "untied tongue" effect instead of something freakier. Still Raoul swore not to snitch on his co-conspirator and summoned a Bird of Paradise through alchemy to fight the Hero and Alina so that he could get back to Swordhaven and give his daughter and the king an antidote, the former's poisoning having never been part of his plan.
Once the Bird of Paradise wass dealt with interrogation ensued. Alina and the Hero found all he knew of the plan, but Raoul stated that a Metal Man put him up to the task, giving him no choice.[2]
He was later incarcerated and Shendra cured of the poison, King Alteon too.[3]
