It is recommended to fish in double-rep boost days, since the reputaion points earned from fishing doubles too.
It is recommended to use the fishing dynamites from the Favor for Faith[1] quest, since they can earn experience far faster due to catching multiple fish at a time.
The Derp Moosefish is the rarest of all, with a 0.01% chance of appearing. And although it is worthless, it does grant the player an achivement badge[2].
The Ripley Fish's appearance is a reference to the Xenomorphs from the Alien franchise and is named the protagonist of the first four films, Ellen Ripley.
The Chuckles Fish references Chuckles the bodiless laughing skull who serves Gravelyn, its description alluding to the Heromart badge and t-shirt "Save Chuckles".
